Frequently asked questions (FAQ)

I saw a piece at a show, but can not find it in your web store?

Just because you can’t find it online does not mean it is not available. – reach out and ask us.  We have many one-of-a-kind pieces resulting from collaborations with other artists.  We incorporate unique handcrafted glass beads and pendants made and limited edition ring colors and styles into many of our pieces.  These exclusive pieces are only offered at one of our events or at one of our retailer’s locations.  If a piece you are interested in is still available, we will happily make arrangements for its rehoming via a custom listing on the web store or at one of our fine retailers.

Our web store contains hundreds of our recreateable products, but not all of them (yet).  As more photos are taken and edited (a process I am not the fastest at) our online offerings will grow.  Please feel free to contact us and let me know what style to work on listing next.

What is “Anodized” aluminum?

“Anodizing is an electrochemical process that converts the metal surface into a decorative, durable, corrosion-resistant, anodic oxide finish.” (Aluminum Anodizers Council, 2017)  There are a variety processes used, but they all involve an acid bath and electricity in a highly-controlled manner to increase durability, create spectacular and stable colors, and maintain costs.  From the space station to your coffee maker, anodized aluminum is everywhere due to its functional and aesthetically pleasing properties.

Anodized aluminum is nickel free – hypoallergenic!!!! Millions of people are allergic to nickel and feel they are limited to costly high karat gold and sterling silver.  Ogre’s Den Chainmaille customers with metal allergies have found they can wear anodized aluminum, opening up a world of colors and styles at affordable prices.

Anodized aluminum contains recycled aluminum. Ogre’s Den Chainmaille found a supplier as dedicated to improving the environment as we are.  Minimal printing, recycling shipping materials, and using recycled metals are just a few ways that we, and our selected partners, protect the environment.
